Tivoli Audio Revive speaker review: The tool that breaks your workplace

Tivoli Audio Revive is one of those products that doesn’t fit neatly into one category; it’s a Bluetooth speaker, wireless charger, and flashlight all rolled into one stylish design. As part of Tivoli Audio’s Art line, it is built to compliment elegant spaces, blending well with wooden decor, whether on a desk or nightstand. But when you spend money ₹21,990, you expect more than just elegance. To see if it lives up to its price, we put it to the test. The Revive comes in a great box with a first-hand unboxing experience. It has enough packing material to keep it safe during shipping. Apart from the speaker itself, you only get a power adapter and a user manual. The power adapter comes with many international attachments, allowing you to choose the one that suits your country’s conditions.

Revive’s recommendations are well done except for one small thing that I’ll get to in a bit. It looks like a log with a wooden cube attached to the first half of it and the other half empty. This wooden cube doubles as a Bluetooth speaker and a lamp. One face of this cube has a mesh for a speaker and the top has a light. This cube rotates 15 degrees in both directions so that the sound can be viewed from your side.

The other half of the Revive is a wireless charger with a capacitive touch button to control the light. The speaker control buttons are on the bottom of the speaker module. On the front side, you see the name Tivoli Audio and on the right side there is a USB port for charging other devices. At the back is a barrel plug that drives the whole package.

Overall I liked the design of the Tivoli Audio Revive and the best part is that it is made of real wood. It weighs just over a kilogram and the rubber feet keep it stable on any surface. Revival comes in three colors; Black, White and Grey, I have the black version but if you ask me the white one looks good.

Another design flaw I have to point out is the placement of the “touch reactive” key on the control light. It’s next to a wireless charger, and whenever I try to charge my phone, I accidentally turn on the light. And it happens frequently, so I recommend Tivoli Audio to move the “touch capacitive” button to the light itself. This will make it easier to light the lamp without confusion.

Tivoli Audio Revive: Wireless charger

The first and most important feature of the Revive is its wireless charger. This is a standard Qi supported charger which means any smartphone can be charged on this wireless charger. Unfortunately, it’s only a 5W charger which means it will take a long time to charge your phone. During my testing, my smartphone with a 4000 mAh battery took about 3 to 4 hours to fully charge.

One thing that really bugged me about this wireless charger is that the wireless charging part has an indicator to show you the correct wireless charging status. But that mark is not easily visible in the Black color that I got. Two things I really wanted from the Revive were the option for a wireless stand-up charger and a compatible fast charging (18W or more) USB port on the side.

Tivoli Audio Revive: Bluetooth speaker

The Bluetooth speaker on the Revive is shaped like a cube and attached to a drum with four buttons to control the speaker. The direction of the sound can be adjusted by pushing the speaker to 15 degrees in either direction. It would have been better if the speaker could be adjusted more. There’s a fabric mesh over the speaker that looks and feels premium.

The speaker is not very powerful so it can’t be loud but the sound quality is good enough to enjoy any kind of music. The Tivoli Audio Revive comes with a 3.5mm port as well so you can easily play your music via an aux cable. Overall the sound quality of the Bluetooth speaker is perfect for listening to music in the morning.

Tivoli Audio Revive comes with a light above the speaker unit. This lamp has a single color and has a warm tone which makes it perfect for use as a bedside lamp. It has four brightness levels that can be controlled with a reactive touch button. However, the placement of this button causes a little inconvenience; it’s located directly next to the wireless charging pad, and the touch-capacitive design makes it easy to accidentally turn off the light when you put the phone on charge.
