The research department is starting a group of high performance computer users
A new group of users of the department called The Research and Data Computational Advisory Team (ReDCAT) has been launched in partnership with Clemson University’s Research Computing and Data (RCD) team within Computing and Information Technology (CCIT). ReDCAT consists of University faculty members who use high-performance computing (HPC) resources such as the Palmetto cluster and rely on these resources for teaching and research. The purpose of this group is to provide valuable communication and relationship building among faculty and campus HPC users and administrative staff at Clemson University’s Research Computing and Data (RCD) group. ReDCAT is a science-led department-produced group.
Jill Gemmill, assistant vice president for Research Computing and Data, said ReDCAT demonstrates the progress of research through strong relationships between faculty and staff.
Dvora Perahia, professor of chemistry and acting chair of ReDCAT, said ReDCAT is an important step forward and positions Clemson well in the industry.
“ReDCAT is important, as almost every multi-user facility in the country has a user group, from x-ray labs, neutron labs to magnet labs,” the said Perahia. “ReDCAT helps to better utilize the Palmetto team and leverage the diverse needs of Clemson researchers and the RCD team.”
For the 2024-2025 academic year, the following faculty members serve as ReDCAT representatives on this advisory board and public meetings will be announced when dates are determined. If your department needs to be included in the list below and you are interested in ReDCAT, talk to your department chair about representing your department. Department Chairs can contact Jill Gemmill to provide the name of the representative they are looking for. To learn more about ReDCAT, please visit this link.
